Volunteers will be collecting taxable food items and hygiene products at No Frills throughout the day. The taxable item drive goes until 4:00 pm.
WOODSTOCK - The No Frills in Woodstock is having a taxable food drive today, hosted by Operation Sharing.
It is the event's second day after taking place yesterday at the local grocery store.
Volunteer Coordinator Chris Eby say they are specifically asking for non taxable food items and hygiene products.
"We will be collecting taxable items to help our low income people with their grocery bill. These are items that cannot be purchased with their food cards, so it is very important that we always have them in our office."
It goes from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Most basic groceries like meat, dairy, vegetables, fruit, canned items are tax free in Ontario, however several items do carry a tax, including hygiene products and most snacks.
