ONTARIO - The Premier of Ontario Doug Ford Announced today he will be extending the emergency order for another 28 days.
Ford says the house is coming back tomorrow for an afternoon session at Queens Park.
"We will be meeting to extend the Emergency Act for another 28 days and then we have another 5 items, two with municipal housing, 3 with education and fall under child care as well. So one bill will consist of 5 different items and I want to thank the members of the opposition for their cooperation to get these measures passed right away.
Premier Ford did not want to speculate on how long schools will be closed at this time after being asked if they will be closed until September from a reporter.
"We wouldn't be able to answer that right now Robert, it is a little premature, again, we are seeing a glimmer, a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel here, but still we are going to take the advice of our Chief Medical Officer and our health team."
The Province of Ontario is reporting another 421 cases of COVID-19 this morning bringing the total of active cases in the Province to 7,470.
The Province also confirmed another 17 deaths this morning, bringing the total to 291. The Province also reported that 3,357 people have recovered from the virus, an increase of 236 from yesterday.
