Oxford County Council will only hold meetings at 9:30 a.m. once the updated procedural bylaw is approved next month.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's looking like there will be no more evening meetings for Oxford County Council.
Council looked over some procedural bylaw amendments on Wednesday. Warden Marcus Ryan says one of the suggestions was to only have County Council meetings at 9:30 a.m.
"This was as a result of a review of how many residents actually attend the day vs. the evening meetings and it turns out more people actually attend the day meetings than the evening meetings. There was also a review of other county councils across the province and how they do their meetings. More of them are switching to daytime meetings for similar reasons."
Warden Ryan adds the fact that people can now log into meetings virtually is a game changer.
As of right now, County Council meetings take place at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, and at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Only one 9:30 a.m. meeting takes place during the months of July, August, and December.
The updated procedural bylaws will be brought to council for final approval on September 13th.
