Woodstock could be getting closer to a major development after Woodstock City Council carried a draft plan for a zone change.
WOODSTOCK - A zone change for the proposed Woodall Complex property was one of the matters of business at Thursday evening's Woodstock City Council meeting.
The draft plan was carried to create four business park industrial blocks as well as a block for a recreational centre.
Andrea Sinclair who was present on behalf of MHBC Planning outlines the plans for the complex construction.
The zone change could drastically fill an empty lot in the city's northeast end.
Sinclair adds why the change is necessary in order to start construction. "Right now the property is zoned future development which doesn't allow a whole lot to happen. With the recommendation to approve the zoning it will be now be zoned for the recreational use as well as the business park and the draft plan once approved will allow those business park lots to be created."
Sinclair feels the construction of the complex would be beneficial to the community. "It's going to bring much larger recreational facilities for the community as a whole, there is going to be great trails through the property. I think it is going to be an opportunity to bring some larger ball tournaments to the city, and down the road when they eventually add more diamonds and more facilities it's going to be quite the state of the art recreational complex."
Still no decision on when construction is set to begin.
