The OPP are reminding everyone to be careful with your garbage this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK - The OPP are reminding everyone to be careful with your garbage this season.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says you need to keep these things in mind, before you put your items to the curb.
"Thieves can quickly gather what you have received on your Christmas wish list, by simply driving by and looking at the gift boxes put out to the curb for garbage pickup. Criminals can easily determine, which house would make a great target, based on the advertisement left out for them each year."
Sanchuk says the OPP is offering the following tips to protect you from becoming a victim.
"If you get those big box items, like a TV or whatever it may be. It is best to take boxes from those big ticket items directly to a recycling depot when possible. Shred any and all receipts and financial documents meant for the garbage and if you need to place boxes at the curbside, break down and cut the boxes down to a smaller size and turn it inside out, also, arrange to have a trusted person to gather your garbage cans if you will be away."
