Meet Ontario's newest millionaires Marc Meilleur and Dorothy-Ann who won $70 million dollars from the Lotto Max jackpot on February 26th.
ONTARIO - A man from Northern Ontario is $70 million dollars richer after winning the Lotto Max jackpot on February 26th.
Marc Meilleur of Noëlville, Ontario checked his ticket almost a dozen times before starting to believe he actually won the $70 million.
Marc and his wife, Dorothy-Ann have been playing the lottery for years, never dreaming they would win $70 million dollars. The 60 year old retired mechanic checked his Quick Pick tickets on the OLG app when he saw $70,000,000 displayed on the screen. He says he still didn't believe it.
"That’s when I went to the bedroom to get Dorothy-Ann and tell her O think I have the winning ticket but my wife thought I was joking, so I scanned the ticket again to show her the $70 million win on the screen."
Dorthy-Ann says she started crying when they realized that they actually had won.
"I started crying tears of joy, my mind was racing, and my hands were shaking, and I was wondering what to do next. That’s when they decided to share the news with their family."
The first call was to their daughter who lives in the Sudbury area. At first, she thought there was bad news because her mom was crying but soon, she too was overjoyed. Marc and Dorthy-Ann also have 7 grandchildren and two great grand children.
Marc says they plan to share the wealth with their family members.
"As a parent, you want to provide the best for your children and now we can take care of them without worry. We want them to be able to buy new homes and vehicles, but we also have a great team of financial advisors helping all of us set up the grandchildren and great-grandchildren for future success."
