Norfolk OPP have arrested a man who they say stole a vehicle from home in Delhi, did a break and enter on Brantford Road and rammed a police cruiser to make their escape on Saturday March 21st.
DELHI - Norfolk OPP have arrested a man who they say stole a vehicle from home in Delhi, did a break and enter on Brantford Road and rammed a police cruiser to make their escape.
The vehicle was stolen from a home on Ann Street on Saturday March 21st. Police found the stolen vehicle later that day responding to a break and enter on Brantford Road. The suspect managed to escape by ramming a police cruiser, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
Brantford Police found the stolen vehicle abandoned later that day.
Then on Tuesday, an officer spotted the suspect, while on regular patrol and made the arrest.
As a result, police charged 36-year-old Nicholas Christopher Sawadaski of Norfolk County, Ontario with the following offences:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Break and enter
- Dangerous operation
- Assault a peace officer with a weapon
- Flight from peace officer
- Driving while under suspension
- Operation while prohibited
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.
