The Province is not providing a date for when the next in person school announcement will be. Education Minister Stephen Lecce did state they are still fully committed on getting kids back to class.
OXFORD COUNTY - Parents, Teachers, ECE's and school staff will continue to wait for word on when students can return to class.
Yesterday the Province announced 7 health unit regions where students can return to in class learning on Monday and none of them were from our region:
- Grey Bruce Health Unit
- Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit
- Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington Health Unit
- Peterborough Public Health
- Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit
- Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit
- Renfrew County and District Health Unit
Heart FM reached out to Education Minister Stephen Lecce's office asking when parents can expect the next announcement. This was the response from his communications team.
"While we are fully committed to getting students back to class, we will continue to rely on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for when students can return to class.
We know how important it is that students return to class for their mental health. We await the approval of the Chief Medical Officer of Health to ensure COVID-19 case numbers in those communities allow for schools to safely reopen."
This means we do not know when the next announcement will be. We do know the initial plan was for students in hot spot regions of Toronto, York, Windsor Essex and Peel was to return on February 10th and for all other students to return on January 25th.
