Health officials are warning people to stay out of the water at the Pittock Reservoir because of E. coli bacteria.
PITTOCK - Oxford County Public Health is warning the public not to swim at the Pittock Reservoir.
The latest beach water quality test results show that E-coli bacteria levels have tested above the Provincial standard. Signs have been posted at the beach warning the public that the water may pose a risk to your health if you choose to swim.
Contact with E. coli bacteria and other disease causing bacteria can lead to skin, eye, ear, nose and throat infections or gastrointestinal illness. The E. coli bacteria was likely caused by fecal contamination from animals or people or both. The beach will remain closed until further notice and won't reopen until the water quality meets the bathing beach water standard.
