New Scam Making the Rounds in Woodstock

Several people have gotten a phone call or a text from someone claiming to be a teenager in need of money for food.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are warning the public a new scam making the rounds locally. 

How it works, is people are getting phone calls and text messages from someone claiming to be a child or teenager in need of money for food. 

The Woodstock Police Service would like to encourage anyone who has lost money to a scam to contact the Woodstock Police Service at 519-537-2323. If you are not a victim, but wish to report a scam you encountered, reach out to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 and for more information and tips about trending scams, visit their website at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
