New Position Coming to City Council

A motion has been passed at Woodstock City Council, and a Deputy Mayor will serve on Council as of 2026.

WOODSTOCK - It's official, the City of Woodstock will have a Deputy Mayor in the future.

During yesterday's City Council meeting a motion was passed to change one of the City-County Councillor positions to a Deputy Mayor role starting with the 2026 municipal election. The Deputy Mayor would in charge of stepping in if the Mayor is unable to chair a meeting or attend a public event. They would also have a spot on Oxford County Council.

When Woodstonians head to the polls on October 26, 2026 they will elect a Mayor, Deputy Mayor-County Councillor, City-County Councillor, and 4 City Councillors.

It's important to note that there will be no additional costs to the city, and the size of Woodstock City Council will remain the same.
