Swearing-in ceremonies will be taking place across Oxford County today as the newly elected municipal councils officially take office.
OXFORD/WOODSTOCK - Today marks a new beginning for municipal councils across Oxford County.
Swearing in ceremonies will be taking place with five new Mayors taking office. Brian Petrie will become the Mayor of Ingersoll, Deb Gilvesy will step up to the Mayor's seat in Tillsonburg, Phil Schaefer will take over as the Mayor of East Zorra-Tavistock, and Jim Palmer will serve as the Mayor of Norwich Township.
Here in the Friendly City, Jerry Acchione will be sworn in as the Mayor of Woodstock after he secured over 3,600 votes in the mayoral race.
Kate Leatherbarrow and Liz Wismer Van Meer will be joining City Council, alongside incumbents Connie Lauder and Mark Schadenberg. Bernia Wheaton will serve as a City-County Councillor and she will be joined by incumbent Deb Tait over the next four years.
