UPDATE: The state of emergency has since been called off. The freezing rain and ice storm Thursday caused so much damage in neighbouring Woolwich Township that it is under a state of emergency. A warming station was set up at the Woolwich Memorial Arena. The weight from the ice caused several hydro lines as well as tree branches to come down. Delays in fixing main Hydro One lines feeding into the township are said to be complicating repair efforts. Other areas under a state of emergency include Wellesley and North Perth. Meanwhile it could be 11:30 Sunday night before Beachville residents get their power back on. The storm is being blamed for those outages as well with Hydro One asking locals to stay at least a full school bus length away from downed hydro lines.
