For two years, the family of Alfons Jauernig have wondered what happened to their loved one after he disappeared from his cottage in the Manitoulin Islands. On Tuesday, police confirmed that skeletal remains found in Gordon Township belonged to Alfons who disappeared in May 2010. Alfons, who was 78 years-old, had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for three years when he disappeared. His wife Maritta says Alfons will be buried back here in Woodstock where they lived for a number of years. Manitoulin OPP say foul play has been ruled out.
