After a few setbacks Miggens is back in the election ring. This time his sights are set on a Tillsonburg councillor position.
TILLSONBURG- After a number of setbacks in previous elections, Richard 'Rick' Miggens is taking aim at a councillor position. The third generation resident of Tillsonburg has grown up around municipal politics, you could say he has politics in his blood, "this isn't the first time I've run for a position, my father was on council for I believe 16 years starting in the 70's...I was born in raised in Tillsonburg and I've been exposed to the political arena my whole life."
This will be Miggens third time running for Tillsonburg council, he first ran for a councillor position in 2003; a personal matter dashed his 2006 hopes of entering the election and in 2010 he filed a last minute bid for Deputy Mayor (at the time the incumbent would have been acclaimed), it quickly became a three way race- with Miggens eventually falling to eventual Deputy Mayor Mark Renaud.
Having grown up on a tobacco farm just south of Tillsonburg, Miggens has spent most of his life here, leaving briefly to go to university. "I finished in Windsor with a bachelor of commerce with human resources major and I was hired in the personnel department of a Fortune 100 automotive company."
Miggen’s says he's not giving up on bringing his expertise to Tillsonburg council. "I have a passion for the town and I wanted to volunteer as much time as I could to help wherever I could."
