She joked that she had the winning ticket, but Joan Houston of Woodstock didn't think it would really happen.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock has a new millionaire!
Joan Houston of Woodstock has won the one million Lotto Max Maxmillions prize in the November 6th draw.
Houston bought the ticket at the Zehrs on Dundas Street, and she says it was a bit of a surprise. “I don't usually check my ticket right away. I like to pretend I'm a winner,” Joan said while picking up her windfall at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I heard on the radio that there was a winner in Woodstock and I jokingly declared that I had that ticket.”
Houston says she plans to share the money with her family, but she also wants to invest wisely and spoil herself a little.
Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario LOTTO MAX players have won over $2 billion in prizes, including 42 jackpot wins and 270 winning MAXMILLIONS tickets from all across the province.
