The Meals on Wheels program continues to help people in Oxford County who may not be able to cook for themselves.
The Meals on Wheels program is thriving in Woodstock.
Care and Service Manager Robin Kish says the program is much more than just a warm meal.
"And the meal program is not just about recieving a meal at the door, but its also a safety check. When the volunteers comes to deliver that meal to the client they are doing a safety check component as well."
For many it offers a sense of independance.
"We recieve really positive feedback from our clients. We have clients who aren't able to stand and prepare a meal for themselves and so this program allows them to stay in their homes longer."
Kish says the community has really rallied behind the program.
"We have that new Meals partnership with the Woodstock Hospital. So Woodstock Hospital is preparing a fresh meal every day which is picked up by the volunteers at the hospital, and then the volunteers are delivering the meals to the client's home.
People who are interested in helping out with the program are encouraged to call the VON Office at 519-539-1231.
