Oxford Renaissance group throwing a bash at Oxford Auditorium this weekend.
The Oxford Renaissance Festival organizers want you to party like it's 1599.
The organizers are hosting a concert featuring the "Mudmen" and "Decoy Roy" coming up this weekend.
Organizer Greg Sherman says there was a lot of interest from the public to hold an event prior to the Renaissance Festival. "It's going to be kind of a break the blues, February 1st, beat old man winter event. It's going to be a lot of fun, there's going to be a costume party, there's going to be actual mead there. It's kind of a pre-celebration of the Oxford Renaissance Festival."
But as Sherman also says, you don't have to be in full Renaissance costume to join in the fun. "I'd love it to be 70-80% in costume, but realistically, it's probably going to be about 40%. That's ok, come out as you are as well, you don't have to dress up. But it adds to the atmosphere and we'll have a costume contest as well."
The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1 starting at 7:30pm at the Oxford Auditorium. Admission is $20 a person and it is a 19 and older event.
Tickets can be purchased online at ticketwindow.ca or at "The Record Score" on Dundas Street.
