McDonald's locations across Canada will be bustling with customers today, in honour of McHappy Day.
WOODSTOCK - If you don't have any plans for lunch today, you might want to stop by McDonalds.
Today is McHappy Day; which means for every purchase of a Big Mac, Happy Meal or McCafe hot beverage $1 will be donated to Ronald McDonald House charities
Gordon MacLeod is the owner and operator of the Woodstock locations. He says all of the money raised locally will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario in London, which acts as a hotel for families who have children at the London Sick Kids Hospital.
"Families can stay there. They're taken care of, there's full maid service and they have all of their meals throughout the day. It's generally just a warm, comfortable, safe environment to help them get through a really tough time."
He says you might spot a few police officers, firefighters and even Mayor Trevor Birtch behind the counter today.
"We don't just have them standing around either! We put them to work so to speak so you might see them at the drive thru window, the front counter or perhaps even helping in making a Big Mac."
Almost $17,000 was raised in Woodstock last year and MacLeod has set the bar higher this year, with a local fundraising goal of $18,000.
