The town of Ingersoll is one of many municipalities currently undergoing negotiations for a new contract with the Ontario Provincial Police. Last night, Ingersoll Town Council received a letter of concern from Norfolk County about municipalities not having a "say" in how much they "pay". Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey has said yes to joining a Mayor's coalition in trying to get more control over OPP costs. Municipalities that use the OPP are told how much it will cost to run a police force per person, per incident, and per capita. Comiskey talked about needing some support, "Somewhere along the line we will need support, we are going to need help and recognition from the Ontario government. "As a municipality we will not be able to afford the policing and we all know we need that." When asked about considering joining the coalition Comiskey said "Most certainly."
