Mayor Birtch Expected to Chair City Council Meeting Today

Woodstock City Council will be meeting this afternoon and this will be the first public meeting since the charges against Mayor Trevor Birtch were made public.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch is expected to chair the Woodstock City Council meeting this afternoon. 

It would mark the Mayor's first public appearance since word of his charges of assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking. The Mayor has not made any kind of public statement on the matter. 

The meeting also includes some interesting agenda items.  

The agenda includes a delegation from Philip Holst with Ducks Unlimited Canada for an update on the Brick Ponds Wetlands. 

Council will also hear from the CAO David Creery for a presentation on the 2022 Budget overview. Budget deliberations will start next week with meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday. 

Council will also be asked to remove the heritage designation at 130 Finkle Street. This is the site of the oldest home in Woodstock. The house was built in the 1800's and received heritage designation in the 1970's. You can read more about it online here. 

The council meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
