Lorne Ave Public School has been saved...for now.
It was a joining of forces in London Tuesday night.
Those fighting to save AJ Baker Public School in Kintore attended a rally in support of those fighting to keep London's Lorne Ave. school open.
They're both on the chopping block, although there was a greater sense of urgency for Lorne Ave. as trustees debated the school's future.
Marcus Ryan with the ARC Committee for AJ Baker says they're happy to support the cause.
And it may have helped.
After many hours of debate, the Thames Valley District school board trustees voted 8-4 in favour of giving the city five more months to find a tenant or buyer. If there are no takers by April 30, 2014 the board will close the school in June 2015 as planned.
Due to low-enrolment at the inner-city public school, Thames Valley say they can no longer afford to keep the school open.
As for AJ Baker Public School, they are preparing to start their accomodation review process which could take up to a year to complete.
