Local singer and songwriter from Woodstock Anna B is hoping to crack the top 100 in the CBC Toyota Searchlight contest.
WOODSTOCK - A local singer songwriter from Woodstock has entered the CBC Toyota Searchlight competition.
Anna B has submitted her original song Goodbye, which is the same song that won her the Big Night In BBBS Talent show. Anna B describes the process for writing the song.
"The song is kind of a love story or a relationship story, it is kind of like realizing, this isn't what I need. What kind of inspired this song, I had this vision in my head when I played the chords on the piano. I wrote the first verse and I really liked it, I needed a chorus to make it click. It took awhile to write the song, what inspired me mostly was just hearing the chords. When I listened to the chords, I could hear the story in my head."
The grand prize winners of the CBC Toyota Searchlight competition will get an Allan Slaight Juno Master Class in the fall of 2021. The class is a week in the fall and will allow the winner to be surrounded by the music industry's best, plus a trip to Canada's national music awards in 2022.
The grand prize also includes a Recording residency at National Music Centre in Calgary and help in promoting your music. Runner up prizes include help in promoting your music and money for studio times.
Anna B cracked the top 50 in this contest last year and is hoping to go all the way with her original song Goodbye.
