Over 200 Charges were laid for distracted driving during this one-month blitz.
OXFORD COUNTY - 232 drivers in Ontario have been charged during the ‘Stay Focused’ campaign.
OPP West Region officers and members of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team (TIME) began the campaign on March 1.
26 charges were laid against Oxford County drivers throughout the campaign.
The main focus was inattentive drivers on roads and highways, which Acting Staff Sergeant Julie McLeod says continues to be a serious issue.
“The OPP will continue to target drivers who make our roads unsafe by dividing their attention between driving and using a cell phone. Every driver has a responsibility to direct their entire attention to driving safely.”
Distracted driving includes adjusting a vehicle’s entertainment system, stereo, or GPS unit, eating and drinking, using a hand-held communication or entertainment device, self-grooming, and tending to children.
