Employees at Oxford County Public Health, the Salford Landfill site, the Mill Street EMS Station and the three different Woodingford Lodge locations will soon be able to charge their electric vehicles while on the job.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is set to install new electric vehicle charging stations in the area.
They will be located at the following workplaces;
Oxford County Public Health - 410 Buller Street, Woodstock - two chargers.
Salford Landfill Site - 384060 Salford Road, Salford - one charger.
Oxford EMS Station - 377 Mill Street, Woodstock - two chargers.
Woodingford Lodge - 300 Juliana Drive, Woodstock - four chargers.
Woodingford Lodge - 325 Thames Street South, Ingersoll - two chargers.
Woodingford Lodge - 52 Venison Street West, Tillsonburg - two chargers.
Warden David Mayberry says employees will be able to charge their vehicles while on the job.
"These are level two stations so they're kind of the medium; they're not the super fast charge which will charge your car in 30 minutes, these are ones that will take three or four hours. They're also looking at putting in a number of level one chargers, which is very similar to a wall plug in someone's home and if someone had the opportunity to plug in all day, it would give them enough charge to get back home every day."
Mayberry hopes to see more electric vehicles on Oxford's roads.
"We hopes this will encourage people to eventually move towards an electrified transportation system, which we all know in the long run is probably the cheapest transportation system it just takes us a while to get over that hurdle to get there.
The province is providing $97,500 through their Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program in order to make this possible. The county will also have to pay $30,000 for the installation.
