A local business owner that has sat on the town of Ingersoll's Council for the past 12 years, is hoping to serve for another term.
INGERSOLL - A 25 year resident and business owner from Ingersoll is seeking re-election on city council.
Gord Lesser has served on council for the past 12 years and says he still has some unfinished business. The former Ingersoll Chamber President and former BIA President is hoping his involvement in the town will help to secure another term on Ingersoll's town council.
Lesser says if elected, he would continue to dedicate attention to the town's infrastructure as well as the push for an updated new community centre.
"We are working towards a community centre, our arena is definitely old and out of date and needs to be replaced. We definitely need to make some changes there."
Lesser has been a fixture on the local business scene for 25 years with Lesser Brother's Jewellers. He also remains a familiar face to Ingersoll's political landscape, with career highlights such as helping to bring the Fusion Youth Centre to the town.
"That is something I am proud to have supported and will continue to support. Through the Youth Centre we have been able to see some great successes come from it. We have been able to find scholarships for youth from families who may not be able to afford schooling, and watch them go on to get a College or University degree."
The experienced politician hopes the new council will continue to push for boundary adjustments to enable the town to grow in Oxford County.
"I've been involved with boundary adjustment in the last four years especially. As with all communities, we need the ability to grow and that is going to provide that opportunity to us to continue to grow. We have made some some good strides."
