Ontario will be the latest province to table legislation banning minors from using tanning beds. Health Minister Deb Matthews says she'll introduce a bill today that would ban the sale of tanning services to people under the age of 18. It would also require operators to request ID from anyone who appears to be under 25 and set fines for those who break the rules. Advertising and marketing of tanning services aimed at those under 18 would also be prohibited. The minority Liberals will need support from at least one of the opposition parties to pass the bill, which will likely come from the NDP. The New Democrats have been lobbying for a ban for years.
