Andrew Stoddart's Legacy Forever fund has donated 43 AED devices in our community since 2015.
OXFORD COUNTY - Since 2015, 43 AED kits have been placed in and around the Friendly City in memory of the sudden death of Andrew Stoddart.
His unfortunate death occurred while playing soccer at the Embro Community Centre soccer fields. It was ruled that if a AED kit was on scene then his life could have been saved. AED stands for automated external defibrillator. Since then his parents have spread awareness of AED and why it's so important to get AED kits out in the community. Along with starting the Andrew Stoddart Legacy Forever Fund. Andrew's mother had this to say about the awareness.
"I have people who come up to me and say they now see the AED's where as before they never did, which is really awesome. So incase of an emergency they know exactly where to go to get them."
She also added that spreading the word is very important.
"Awareness is very key for what we are doing. We've placed AED's in a lot of school's, there has been other organizations as well that have placed them in school's. Since the board made their policy change a couple years ago when they finally realized that they needed to have AED's in their schools."
To help spread the word even more Century 21 make them apart of the Golden Gala.
