London and surrounding areas are being asked to conserve their water after a pipeline burst at the Lake Huron Water System earlier today. The Huron Water Supply issued a water restriction notice for a number of areas including Bluewater, South Huron, Lambton Shores, Lucan Biddulph, North Middlesex, Middlesex Centre, Strathroy Caradoc, and the City of London. Ailsa Craig was without water for a few hours this afternoon but officials were able to connect with a reservoir to get a supply back into the community around 4 o'clock. According to the agency, the cause of the break has not been determined and the repairs could take 30 to 48 hours to complete. The pipeline from Lake Huron broke near Mt Carmel. London spray pads have been closed for the time being and residents in the affected areas are being asked to cut back on water usage for showers, baths, laundry, dishes and flushing toilets.
