The popular Kids Du Duathlon will return to Southside Park on Sunday, June 12th for kids aged 3 to 13.
WOODSTOCK - Kids in Oxford County and beyond are invited to run, bike, and run with the Kids Du Duathlon.
The popular event is returning to Southside Park on Sunday, June 12th. One of the Organizers Terri Jenkin says they have plenty of courses set up for kids of all ages.
"We ask kids to bring their bikes and helmets. They run on a course, then hop on their bikes, and then run again. It is a fun day for kids aged 3 to 13. Even 2-year-olds can sign up if they are turning 3 this year."
Parents are asked to race with their kids if they're under 5. They have courses set up for the different age groups. The smallest course is only 700 meters for the youngest athletes, while they also have an 11km course for the older ones.
Jenkin says the response from the community in past events has been fantastic.
"The kids love it, we try to not actually call it a race because you are racing against yourself. It is not competitive, we don't give out awards for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, it's all about having fun, you are not out to win the race, you are there to have fun and enjoy it."
Everyone that completes the course receives a finishers medal. In past years they have had people participate from all over Southern Ontario. You can find more details online here.
