A high profile musician was in Ingersoll Friday night, helping to raise awareness for Oxford People Against the Landfill (OPAL). Craig Cardiff (photo right) is a Juno-nominated folk musician who has been a known supporter of a greener and healthier environment. Chair of OPAL Steve McSwiggan thinks he was the perfect fit: ?He?s got a very good social conscience. OPAL wanted to do a concert, but we didn?t know who to get, or who was in the field that could really gel with our message we want to get out to the community.? Cardiff says he fully supports this type of community activism and thought of one of his songs that best represents the situation. ?There?s a song called ?Safe Here? that talks about the idea of people not pretending that they can do everything and that we all need one another. And I definitely think that connects,? says Cardiff. All proceeds from this event were donated to OPAL in the fight against the dump.
