During an interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Jerry Acchione talked about the land sales in this week's council agenda and the rules regarding snow removal in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council is ready to start the New Year.
The first meeting of 2024 will be happening at City Hall at this Thursday. They will be looking at some potential land sales, and Mayor Jerry Acchione tells us about one of them.
"We have another sale for Alyea Business Park which is exciting. This one is almost 14 acres and it's to an existing Canadian poultry processor."
If it's approved, Acchione says the processing plant would bring another 300 jobs to the Friendly City.
Another land sale looks at a 4.8 acre property located at the Patullo Ridge business park, which could be home to a 42,000 square foot building that deals with the vaccine industry.
The City Council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page. You can also find the meeting agenda online here.
Now that the winter weather has finally arrived, Mayor Acchione also has a friendly reminder for everyone. He says you have 24 hours to clear the sidewalk in front of your property after a snow or ice event.
"The sidewalk is your responsibility, that's just the rule of thumb. So if you have a sidewalk outside your house, it is up to you to keep it clear for your neighbours walking out, the kids going to school, or whatever."
Those who are unable to do so can sign up for the Snow Buddies program to get some help. Volunteers are also needed, and more information can be found on the city's website.
