During his interview with Heart FM this morning, Mayor Jerry Acchione talked about snow removal in Woodstock, the downtown bench survey, and an engineering report that will be brought to City Council this Thursday.
WOODSTOCK - The COVID-19 pandemic did not slow down construction in the Friendly City.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says City Council will be looking over a report from the Engineering Department during this Thursday's meeting.
"2022 was a really good year for construction again. Another $199 million worth of permits went through, so it was another successful year considering all of those projects would have been talked about during COVID. So if you think about that, we really didn't slow down much at all."
Acchione says this is a slight increase compared to the year before, with $195 million dollars worth of permits issued in 2021. He also says 66 percent of all of the permits issued in 2022 were residential.
This Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and you can livestream it online here.
During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also talked about the following:
- Groundhog Day coming up this Thursday. He will be reading the official proclamation at South Gate Centre.
- Snow removal in Woodstock. Residents must have their sidewalks shoveled within 24 hours of a snow event and keep them clear afterward.
- A public consultation meeting about Oxford County's backflow prevention program. It's happening at the Oxford County Administration building tomorrow from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The downtown bench discussions for Museum Square the online survey will close tomorrow and staff will bring a report to City Council on February 13th.
