It was another morning show interview on Heart FM with Mayor Jerry Acchione. Many topics were discussed during the show.
WOODSTOCK - Mayor Jerry Acchione was in with the Heart FM Morning Show and spoke about a number of topics.
Among them is the 401 Lakeview development as it is heading back to council chambers.
Woodstock City Council will be discussing the topic on Thursday, and the development wants to put up over 250 residential units. Acchione says what the discussion at the meeting might look like.
"We are going to stand our ground, with the recommendation from the Planner and Lawyer we've hired. Their recommendation is that Council support denying that application of the official plan amendment as well as the sub-division plan amendment, and then of course sticking to our zone change denial."
Acchione says this particular development is to dense for the area it is proposed for according to Council. He is hoping there could be a conversation with the developer to work on a plan that works for the space.
Another topic that was brought up was the Lions Pool. There will be a delegation speaking on behalf of keeping the pool. Acchione mentions the passion that this particular issue has brought up.
"There's a group that still wants the Lions Pool to survive. It is slated to be demolished later this year, and it's been a couple years since it was deemed too expensive to go."
Acchione says he would love an outdoor pool, but the amount of money it would take to make the Lions Pool operational is too much and he is not sold on the location.
Council will meet Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. and if you want to hear the full interview with the Mayor you can do so below.
