Local politicians are celebrating our firefighters today. Oxford MPP Ernie Hardman put out a message on twitter.
This #InternationalFirefightersDay, I want to recognize and pay tribute to our incredible firefighters who put themselves in harm’s way every day to save lives.

"At the County of Brant, we have approximately 185 firefighters who are protecting and serving our community. Their dedication, time, commitment and sacrifice are greatly appreciated. On this day, we also remember firefighters who have died while serving our community. We are so grateful for their contribution to the Fire Services and they will always be remembered."
Last year, County of Brant Firefighters responded to 850 calls which included fire, medical and water rescue. Local Firefighters cover approximately 843 square kilometers in the County of Brant.
