The Zonta Club of Woodstock and DART will be out at local hospitals to distribute orange ribbons and raise awareness for an important cause.
Three local hospitals have stepped up to take part in the Zonta Says No Campaign.
This Wednesday marks International Anti-Corruption Day and the Zonta Club of Woodstock has teamed up with the Domestic Assault Review Team to help spread the message. Coordinator for the DART Team, Linda Armstrong, explains exactly what will be happening on December 9th. "There will be representation from DART and from Zonta at all three of the Oxford County Hospitals. We will be visiting from 2 - 4:30p.m. where we will be handing out information brochures, orange ribbons, and cookies with orange ribbons on them."
The Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg locations will each be taking part, and Armstrong explains that purpose of holding this event. "The objective of this initiative really is just to draw attention to fact that there is still gender based violence, the only way we can bring a stop to it is to bring awareness to it. We want to make sure that we include all three of the Oxford County hospitals, it is very important to make sure that the message gets out to everyone."
Armstrong spoke to Heart FM about the partnership her organization has with the Zonta Club of Woodstock. "This is our third year now and we find people are very interested in what we are doing, and why we are doing it. People are eager just to get information they can from us; we still have to keep our voices going until there are no more women being murdered simply because they are women."
Everyone is encouraged to wear an orange ribbon as a sign to end gender based violence against women.
