The Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum is one of seven finalists in the running for the Top Small Museum, Historic Site or Gallery in Ontario.
INGERSOLL - Voting is still open for the Top Small Museum, Historic Site or Gallery in Ontario and the Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum is one of the finalists.
Curator Scott Gillies says the Ingersoll Museum is the only nominee that is from a small rural community.
"We're one of seven different museums; we are the only really small rural museum in the running. There are a couple from the Ottawa area, two from the city of Hamilton, Waterloo Region Museum. Muskoka Marine Museum."
Right now Ingersoll based museum has an exhibit on display which educates the public about the roles Oxford County's residents played during the Great War. Gillies tells us about the Patriotism and Production exhibit.
"We look at different industries, farm production, households, consumption habits that were practiced in Oxford. It's everything from making artillery shells in Ingersoll to the Bain Wagon Works in Woodstock that were producing ambulances for the war effort."
