A two-year recycling project for multi-residential buildings throughout the county saw outstanding results. Director of Public Works Rob Walton says it was a project funded by the province. "The province through Waste Diversion Ontario, as a goal, wanted to improve recycling for multi-residential buildings so they provided a 50 percent grant on the project to improve that," said Walton. County Councillor David Mayberry calls Oxford's Public Works department proactive. "They went out and contacted the people and it worked. I mean the results speak for themselves," said Mayberry, "When you get more than two-thirds of the multi-residential signing up and agreeing to a program and then you see the spectacular results, I say good for them." There was a 44 percent increase in recycling over the two years this project was implemented. The results will be given back to Waste Diversion Ontario to finalize the grant program.
