OPP are advising drivers to be safe on the roads following multiple collisions this morning.
OXFORD COUNTY - OPP are offering advice to drivers after multiple collisions in the region this morning.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says while they have responded to several crashes, there are no serious injuries resulting from them.
He says before you head out, make sure you're prepared.
"We're asking people to simply take their right foot off the gas pedal, you're going to eventually arrive at your destination. And for people travelling the backroads, in case you do get into white out conditions or blowing snow, it's going to limit your visibility so make sure that your entire headlight system is on."
Sanchuk adds if you are travelling, give yourself extra time and distance between vehicles and slow down.
They've responded to several crashes, including one near Woodstock.
He says in the event you are involved in a collision, whether on a road or a busy highway, that you remain in your car.
"If you have a cell phone, you need to contact 911 especially if there are any injuries involved or associated with that crash, but more importantly put your hazards on."
He adds to put your hazards on so other drivers know you're not going anywhere and they can see where you are.
Sanchuk says other drivers need to slow down when they see emergency services on the side of the road while passing a collision. He says you need to slow down or get over when it is safe to do so, or else you'll be charged with a $600.00 ticket.
He adds you are also reminded to make sure your gas tank is full and windshield washer fluid is filled up, just in case you become stranded or stuck in a collision or in traffic as a result of a collision.
