Dr. Joyce Lock says students belong in the classroom and we need to follow COVID-19 safety measures to make sure they can continue in-person learning for the rest of the school year.
SWPH - Students wrap up their first week back to in person learning today.
Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says she thinks kids belong in school.
"We in the Public Health world are highly committed to keeping kids in class. It is the best place for them to be, even with COVID, than not being in class for a multitude of reasons."
Dr. Lock says parents will play a part in keeping schools open, by following the daily screening guidelines.
"If you are sick stay home, both as a parent, a child or a worker, that will be a key way to keep COVID out of our schools."
Dr. Lock says one thing to watch for keeping schools open, is the amount of people in the hospital with COVID-19.
She is confident kids can remain in class if we follow the public health measures are already in place at school.
