Groovy for all ages, this STAGES unique 1960's stylistic adaptation of the classic “ugly duckling” fable celebrates what makes us special, in a universal story about acceptance of self and others.
WOODSTOCK - The latest show from Theatre Woodstock opens up on Friday night with HONK!
Director David Dejonge says Honk is fun for the whole family.
"Groovy for all ages, this STAGES unique 1960's stylistic adaptation of the classic “ugly duckling” fable celebrates what makes us special, in a universal story about acceptance of self and others. This award-winning full Broadway edition show may evoke a tear or two, and plenty of smiles and laughs with its charming characters, songs and all around good vibes."
Director David Dejonge says they have an enthusiastic cast who are ready for opening night.
"We have 25 cast members and ton of other crew helping out for this show. All of the cast are teenagers, so it is the senior teenaged program offered at the theatre, stages is a company that has been running for the last three years, that creates a community theatre experience for kids through three stages. The younger kids are in Stage 1, then we have the Stage 2 and this show is the senior Stage 3."
All of the kids in the show are from Woodstock and Oxford County with most of them going to WCI. Dejonge says these kids should not be taken lightly.
"I am so incredibly in awe of the kids in this program, they are so talented and when people come and see these kids perform, they can't believe that they are not professionals. It is a little outrageous, how awesome these kids are. We will have a live orchestra for this show, it is truly a unique experience and it is not just a kids show, it will be fun for everyone."
Honk will run for two weekends starting this Friday night. Show times start at 7:30 p.m and they have two Sunday matinee's at 2:00 pm. You can buy your tickets online here or at the theatre beforehand.
