Information Oxford and 211 launch their annual Holiday Sharing Guide
OXFORD COUNTY - The annual Holiday Sharing Guide has been launched by Information Oxford and 211.
The service connects families in need with the services and resources they need this time of year.
Warden Don McKay says the number can be accessed 24 hours a day to find out what is offered locally by way of support.
"Anyone in need can call directly, it's confidential. Whether they are calling for themselves or a family member, we encourage them to take the time, express what it is that you need by way of support. Whether it's food or some gifts or just some friendship and encouragement."
McKay says it's a great resources for those looking to give back as well.
"If you have time you're looking --how can I be of support to my community -- by all means you can find out what's available, they will give you the information. Whether you have time to give, money to give or some goods or services, you can make that available and we can connect."
McKay says it's a challenge for each individual service provider to get their messages out which is why they do this.
"Whether it's food through a food bank, how do they reach the 106,000 people in Oxford County. If we can centralize that -- by no means are we trying to control it -- we are simply trying to maximize the exposure and ensure the information is out there and easily available."
