Those who were planning on attending this weekend's Hockeyfest concert in Brantford are fuming today. The organizer of the 3-day festival has postponed the event, and is promising to honour those who bought tickets "at a later date". Hockeyfest promoter Ralph Spoltore held a news conference this morning, announcing the event's postponement. This came after yesterday's statement by the Grand River Conservation Authority that the event wouldn't be held at the Brant Conservation Area because of a lack of safety and security planning. There was some work done on moving the event to land on the Six Nations last night, which fell through. Major acts like Weezer, Marianas Trench and Creed were set to play at Hockeyfest Friday through Sunday.
