The GRCA says there is expected to be heavy rain in the forecast during the day today and tomorrow, bringing 20 to 25 millimetres to the Grand River watershed.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Grand River Conservation Authority has released a statement urging caution around local waterways.
The GRCA says there is expected to be widespread precipitation during the day today and tomorrow, bringing 20 to 25 millimetres of rain to much of the Grand River watershed.
They say ground conditions are generally wet and/or frozen and while no significant flooding is expected, higher flow in local waterways could increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas that are typically prone to it.
The GRCA are encouraging the public to use extreme caution around all local waterways. They say banks that are adjacent to rivers and creeks are very slippery, and when combined with the cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.
Parents are being encouraged to keep their children and pets away from all watercourses.
The GRCA says the upstream reservoirs are at their lowest level this time of year and will be used to manage the runoff, if necessary.
This will be in effect until January 3rd and there will be flood updates issued, if conditions change.
