We are expecting several days of hot temperatures with little relief until Sunday at the earliest.
OXFORD / BRANT - Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for the region.
Warnings of a prolonged period of hot weather right through until Sunday, with a slight chance of showers, but it could continue into next week.
Maximum temperatures today: 32 to 35 degrees Celsius (Humidex 35 to 38).
Maximum temperatures Friday: 32 to 34 degrees Celsius (Humidex 36 to 40).
Maximum temperatures Saturday: 32 to 35 degrees Celsius (Humidex 36 to 40).
Maximum temperatures Sunday: 31 to 35 degrees Celsius (Humidex 37 to 42).
Minimum overnight temperatures are expected to be around 20 to 23 degrees Celsius.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
Extreme heat affects everyone however, the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
A reminder to never leave people or pets inside of a parked vehicle.
Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
