An early summer heat wave has taken hold of our region. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of southern and eastern Ontario -- warning of hot and humid air and temperatures in the low 30s today. Humidex values are expected to touch 40 in many areas, including Woodstock and Oxford County. Public Health has extended the heat alert that took effect on the weekend. During this heat alert, people are encouraged to check on vulnerable adults and children to make sure they are keeping cool and drinking plenty of fluids. Things are expected to start cooling off around mid-week.
