Oxford County is exploring adding healthier food choices to the menus at concession stands in public facilities.
If you've ever thought there aren't enough healthy food options at local arenas and recreation facilities, Oxford County Public Health want to hear from you.
They are hosting a Healthier Choices workshop that will look at creating a recreational food policy for the County.
Program Supervisor Mike Gorgey says they want to hear from every one who uses their facilities.
"If you were out playing hockey out at an arena, what would you like to eat? What would you like to see served? Is there something that we are not offering? Really, what are you willing to buy? What would you like to see? and how can we support you as a County to have that availability in our facilities."
Public Health Nutritionist Katie Neil says this is a great way for recreation facility users of all ages to have their opinions heard.
"We want to hear their opinions, any feedback they have and all of their ideas for how we can better inform our public health programming and development in this area."
Gorgey says once the information is gathered, they will be taking back to their stakeholders and municipal leaders.
"This is what people have been saying that they would like to see. What are some of the barriers? What are the limitations? and hopefully just come up with a great plan that kind of meets everybody's needs in supporting a healthy and safe Oxford County."
The Healthier Choices workshop is open to everyone.
It runs Tuesday, March 25 from 6-8pm at the Elm Hurst Inn.
RSVP is required to Sandra Dineen at sdineen@oxfordcounty.ca or 1-800-755-0394 ext. 3420.
