Re-elected Oxford MPP reacts to Tim Hudak stepping down

WOODSTOCK - Re-elected Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says he wasn't surprised with the news that Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak is stepping down. 

Hudak made declaration Thursday night shortly after the announcement of a Liberal majority government. 

"This was his second time and he had taken a pretty strong position on what he thought needed to be done and since that wasn't supported by the majority of Ontarians I think he decided that it was time and in the best interest of the party to leave the reigns to someone else."

Hardeman says he has worked well with him.

"He's a very nice individual and I've really enjoy working with him. I think he worked from the heart and he really believed in what he was talking about and I expect he will be very disappointed that the day turned out as it did."

Hardeman says it's too early to be thinking about who will replace Hudak. 

"Obviously everybody has to first of all deal with the events of yesterday and then everybody has to have a look at what they see for the future for themselves or for others so it's too early to start throwing out names today."
