The Hawkins-Gignac Memorial Golf Tournament raised approximately $25,000 at the Paris Grand Golf Course yesterday.
PARIS- The 8th Hawkins-Gignac Memorial Golf Tournament has been deemed a success.
The annual fundraiser raised approximately $25,000 for the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation at the Paris Grand Golf Course yesterday.
Executive Director, John Gignac tells Heart FM the tournament always gives away free Carbon Monoxide alarms to the participating golfers.
"A lot of people have been here for 7 or 8 years so they've got CO Alarms now we are telling them, hey you need them to give them to your family and friends so they're protected as well."
Gignac says it's important that people understand the dangers of Carbon Monoxide and update their alarms.
"Smoke detectors and CO alarms are both 10 years, so make sure after the 10 years you check your smoke and your CO alarms to make sure they are updated."
Carbon Monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that has been proven to be deadly when inside the home.
By law all Canadians should have working CO alarms in their home or buildings.
