Families can fish without a licence this weekend during the Ontario Family Fishing Events
The Ministry of Natural Resources is offering up some free family fishing fun for the long weekend.
This weekend you can fish without a license. Resource Management Technician with the MNR Wil Wegman tells Heart FM why they offer this incentive twice a year.
"We have a goal to try to get as many people hooked on fishing as possible. We think that by offering folks an opportunity to fish license free that they will have little excuse not to give it a try."
They do have a couple of events happening in the region as well.
"So these are Ontario Family Fishing Events and it is a program that is partnered with Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Usually you have volunteer groups that are putting these events on."
The closest family fishing events to us are happening this weekend at Pinehurst near Paris and at Wellington Street Sportsman Club in Thames Centre. You can find more information online here.
